Feltonfleet participates in the Government Scheme for 15 hours of free Universal Early Years (EY) Education Funding for 3 and 4 year olds.

Funded hours are offered in the morning session between 08:45 – 11:45 every morning during term time. This includes a morning snack, free of charge. The funding only applies during term time when the school is open, therefore parents are entitled to claim 510 hours per year over 34 weeks.

Parents can choose to claim an additional 60 hours per year over 4 weeks at another provider (e.g. childminder) if you wish, however this must be outside of term time and is separate from your contract with Feltonfleet School.

Our Pre-Prep administrator, Mrs Emma Spratley (emma.spratley@feltonfleet.co.uk), will be in touch with all families eligible for Free Entitlement as they join and/or become eligible, to gather the necessary information to make the claim.

All required paperwork must be returned within the required deadline. Failure to do so will result in the pupil no longer being eligible for EY funding and a subsequent invoice will be issued.

Early Years Funding Eligibility

Pupils are entitled to up to 15 free hours per week from the term after they turn 3 years old, up to and including the term in which they turn 5 years old.

The Government will, from time to time, change the EY funding rate per hour. The current funding rate (Dec '24) is £6.05 per hour, which is fully deducted from fees where eligible. Pupils receiving the full 15 hours of funding, therefore, receive an average of approximately £1,029 per term EY funding.

If your child is eligible for EY funding, you will be charged the relevant termly fees according to our fee list, less the EY funding. On your invoice, you will also see a separate line item stating "15 Free hours (Early Years Funded)" with a zero charge.

Please note that Nursery afternoons (12:30 - 15:40) are optional, and therefore the EY funding does not apply to these sessions as they fall outside of the funded hours. Children not eligible for EY funding, will be charged the full standard fee.
