Prep is intended reinforce in-school learning or, in the Pre-Prep, a craft or topic based activity. We firmly believe that children who have given their best during the school day, need time to relax after school.

Aims of prep:

• To complement and supplement work done in the classroom.

• To prepare for work that is about to be undertaken in class.

• To reinforce or offer further opportunity to practise work covered in class.

• To help pupils take responsibility for their own learning.

• Where appropriate, to involve parents in their children's learning.

As pupils move into Year 5 we expect them to take greater ownership of their learning, and managing their own prep is part of this expectation.

Each prep activity, for pupils of all ages, is expected to be take no longer than 30 minutes to complete.

Pupils across the whole school are encouraged to read on a daily basis (this will be a 'sharing' book for children who are pre-readers).
